Our story

In 2021, fresh out of university, Ben quickly realised that corporate life wasn’t for him.

Career ambitious but not wanting to spend his twenties sitting behind a desk, he joined Prosple, a fully remote tech startup. Not long after and he was halfway around the world, joining Zoom calls from Greek beaches, the Swiss Alps and Parisian cafes.

2 years and 20 countries later and this lifestyle had become routine.

More impressive than the destinations however, were the people Ben met along the way - marketers, accountants, and yoga teachers, representing virtually every career path.

But the internet wasn't paying attention to these people. A quick search would reveal only YouTubers, tech geniuses, and OnlyFans models living it up in tropical villas. But in reality this dream lifestyle was more accessible than people realised; if only they knew.

Partnering with his colleague back in Australia, Christian was also no stranger to remote work. After travelling South East Asia while completing his degree and working part-time from his laptop, Christian turned away from the corporate pathway and set his sights on working remotely full-time.

At the same time, another Australian had moved abroad and was making a living as a freelance journalist in Europe. Aaron left his office job in 2022 to pursue his passion for documentary film making with a Masters program in Berlin.

Initially using freelancing as a way of supporting himself through university while abroad, Aaron quickly realised it could provide him a full-time income along with the flexibility to let him stay overseas.

Through a chance encounter and a shared belief that the concept of remote work was being misrepresented, the three came together and Remote Diaries was born with the mission of helping more people build their dream life from their laptop.
